The JCC of Syracuse is once again seeking rock and other musical groups to enter and play in its Battle of the Bands concert. This 13th annual competition will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 7:00 p.m. at The Syracuse Project 4 Our Teens (SPOT), the JCC’s Teen Center in ShoppingTown Mall, DeWitt. The winner will receive a $200 cash prize and a demo package (eight hours of studio recording time*) with More Sound Studio.

Battle of the Bands entry forms are available for download at right and at the JCC front desk. Registration is $40 per band and the deadline is Jan. 2, 2015. However, if you hand deliver your completed registration by Jan. 7 or Jan. 8 we won't turn you away. :-)

“Last year’s concert and competition was awesome,” said Mick Hagan, JCC’s director of Children and Teen Services. “We had a great turnout and all of the bands were excellent. We’re getting pumped to see what kind of talent we’ll draw this year to rock The SPOT once again.”

Each of the previous Battle of the Bands competitions drew up to ten bands from all over Central New York who have put on rocking shows. Last year’s winner was pop-punk band Home Court Advantage from West Genesee High School.

Judges for the 2015 Battle of the Bands will be Ryan Gorham, Gorham Brothers Music, Syracuse;Katrina Tulloch, entertainment reporter for The Post-Standard; Bob Staffa, 95X radio; and and Andrew Marotta and Chrissy Gerace from last year's winning band Home Court Advantage. Admission to the show is $9 and open to the public. For every high school student admission, the JCC will donate $1 to his or her school district’s music department.
