Martin Luther King Jr. Day vacation camp for children to be held Jan. 19

Let your child enjoy a day filled with fun and creative activities during the upcoming school break on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Sam Pomeranz Jewish Community Center of Syracuse is offering an MLK Jr. Day vacation camp for school-age children, grades K-6, on Monday, Jan. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the JCC on 5655 Thompson Rd., DeWitt.

Image of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in front of the American flag.Half-day programs and extended childcare are also available. Full-day campers are asked to bring a non-meat lunch. An afternoon snack will be provided.

The day will be filled with a variety of engaging activities such as arts and crafts, computer games, sports and more. Morning activities will include fusing plastic bead creations together with head and kickball in the gym. Activities scheduled for the afternoon include group mural painting, obstacle course in the gym, and planting flower seeds for Tu B'Shevat, the Jewish holiday also known as the New Year for Trees.

The camp’s half-day options run from 9 a.m.–noon and 1 p.m.–4 p.m. Extended childcare will be available starting at 7:30 a.m. and running through 6 p.m.  Early registration pricing through Jan. 12 is from $25 per child for the half-day program to $50 per child for a full day, with a discount available for siblings. Current JCC membership or program enrollment is not necessary for children to attend the MLK Jr. Day vacation camp.
