JCC of Syracuse announces slate of officers and directors

The Nominating Committee of the Jewish Community Center is pleased to announce its slate of officers and directors for election at this year’s Jewish Community Center Annual Meeting & Gala to be held on June 2, 2019 at 11:00 am at Owera Vineyards in Cazenovia.

The Nominating Committee, chaired by Debbie Goldwein, consisting of; Ben Gnacik, Roy Gutterman, Michael Klein, Mark Levy, Alan Lipsy, Joanne Maloff, Ilene Mendel, Davia Moss, Sarah Pinsky, Phillip Rubenstein, Steven Sisskind (Ex Officio) and Howard Weinstein.  The JCC thanks them for their hard work in helping to put this slate together.

The Officers Nominated are:  President; Steven Sisskind, Vice Presidents; Phillip Rubenstein, Howard Weinstein and Debbie Goldwein; Treasurer; Sara Temes and Secretary; Roy Gutterman.

Nominated as Directors for the term ending in 2021 are: Philip Rothschild and Anick Sinclair. The Directors nominated for the term ending in 2022 are: Hailey Dubnoff, Adam DuChene, Amira Goldberg, Bud Greenman, Gillian Kanter, Paula King, Michael Klein, Sarah Pinsky and Jeffrey Tamburo.

In addition to electing board officers and directors, the JCC’s Gala event will feature a presentation of five awards recognizing outstanding service given to the JCC and to the local community.

The Hall of Fame Award, which honors those who have dedicated themselves to the Syracuse Jewish community and advancing the goals and philosophy of the JCC, will be given to longtime generous community supporters Robin and Neil Goldberg and Jewish educator and author Dr. Barbara Davis.

The Kovod Gadol Award, the JCC’s highest honor which in Hebrew translates to great honor, will be presented to Rabbi Evan Shore.

Receiving the Kovod Award, which signifies honor and importance, will be JCC board member and vice president Phil Rubenstein.

The Leslie Award, which recognizes outstanding commitment and service to the JCC and to the local community by young up-and-coming leaders—the qualities which the award’s namesake, Leslie London Neulander personified—will be presented to JCC board member and gala committee member Jessica Malzman.
